A priest from Gioia del Colle, Francesco Filippo Indelicati, studying some vines at the end of the 18th century identifies one that stands out for its early ripening (late August and early September) and calls it “Primitivo” or “Primaticcio”. Sapling plant of about seventy years on clayey and limestone soil. Typical Mediterranean climate with low rainfall concentrated in winter, and hot and well ventilated summers, determine a low production yield with a great wealth of aromas and an important alcohol content. Aging for two years in large barrels and four months in barrique make CAMENA a well-structured primitivo.
The olfactory examination shows a deep ruby red color and a good consistency.
A complex bouquet is perceived on the nose: the balsamic hints of the Mediterranean scrub with a background of licorice are added to the fruity hints of blackberry brambles.
On the palate it gives a powerful flavor. We can define it as a wine of great character, ample and soft with a long aromatic persistence.
Pairings with grilled meats, aged cheeses.
A serving temperature of 18-20 ° C is recommended.
